Below is a link to the scholarship application and the supporting documents that are required for applicants. The scholarship application and all supporting documents are due by January 15.


Kansas Hispanic Scholarship Program Application Form

The Scholarship Application Form should be completed first.


Resume

  • The template above must be used.
  • Type your name, high school, and address in the top section of the resume as shown on the resume example.
  • The resume example is provided to assist you in completing your resume and to help us in scoring your application.
  • Submit resume to: scholarships@khedf.org
  • In the subject line of the email, type: last name, first name, resume.

Personal Statements

  • Applicants must use the “Personal Statements” form to answer the questions in the spaces provided.  
  • Type your name and high school in the top right-hand corner.
  • The “Additional Information” section on this form is an opportunity for you to share any unusual circumstances that might not show up in any other parts of the application.
  • Word Limit:
    • The maximum number of words for each question is 100 words.
    • The minimum  number of words for each question is 75 words.

  •  In the subject line of the email, type: last name, first name, personal statements

Essay – One Page

  • Read each option carefully and choose from one of the following essay options:
    • Option 1
      Describe how you have taken advantage of a significant opportunity or worked to overcome an educational barrier you faced.
    • Option 2
      Describe an example of your leadership experience in which you have positively influenced others, helped resolve disputes or contributed to group efforts over time.
    • Option 3
      Most students choose their intended major or study based on a passion or inspiration that’s developed over time — what passion or inspiration led you to choose your major?
  • Follow the formatting guidelines below:
    • The essay should be one page. The maximum number of words an applicant can submit for the essay is 600 words. It must also have a minimum of 500 words.
    • In the upper right corner, type your name and high school
    • Title: Center the option choice at the top as the title.
    • Use 12-point Times New Roman with the first line of each paragraph indented.

Letter of Recommendation – Organized Narrative Format

The purpose of a letter of recommendation is to know an applicant’s accomplishments and their potential to succeed in college. Therefore, your core academic teacher, elective teacher, coach, or counselors are examples of individuals who can write a letter for you. The scholarship committee will want to know about your academic and leadership qualities as well as your extracurricular and community involvement.

  • The organized narrative format must be used by recommenders when submitting letters of recommendation.
  • Recommenders should submit letter of recommendation to: scholarships@khedf.org
  • Recommenders should address email as follows:
    In the subject line of the email, type student’s last name, student’s first name, letter of recommendation

Official Transcript 

  • Applicants must request an official transcript from their high school to be submitted to KHEDF.
  • Official transcripts should be emailed by high school official to: scholarships@khedf.org

If the high school requires that the transcript be mailed, the transcript must be in a sealed envelope and sent directly to:
